4% TAX CAP WARNING
*Additional Important Informational Links - scroll to the bottom. Many thanks to SCMEA for providing this information. You are probably aware that the NYS Senate has already voted in approval of a 4% cap on future increases to educational spending in local school districts. If passed by the Assembly and ratified by the Governor, this bill threatens to eliminate or drastically cut music programs and other services to our students. A similar tax cap took place in California, Massachusetts and Illinois and the consequences were devastating. Billions of dollars in education funding were cut, resulting in overcrowded classrooms, an loss of teaching positions and the elimination of music programs.

Teachers will be able to enter their recommendations. All new staff members must be registered with NMEA Membership. |
